I meant to share this story with my pastors upon my initial return to my church. During my two days of sedation, which I have no recollection of, one of my visitors was the chaplain for the Wisconsin Heart Hospital. He led my family members - wife Jill, sister Penny and niece Kassie - in the Lord's Prayer. Halfway through it, he looked up and nudged Penny. "Look, Larry is praying along with us! You told me he was out of it!" "He is out of it," responded Penny.
The moral of this story is: if anyone doubts that a Lutheran can pray the Lord's Prayer in his sleep, I am living proof that it is true!
